We were so impressed with Ultimate Africa Safaris! It was amazing how on top of everything you were! The level of service and food while traveling was impressive. Everything ran like a well oiled machine. I love Botswana and Cape Town. The Cape Radisson was a gem! Little Vumbura staff and food were excellent. The guides were also very good and great service. Little Mombo – what can I say – perfection in the wild. Tons of wildlife and the knowledge of our guide was exceptional. It is easy to see how Africa gets under your skin!

The group camping safari you recommended for us was fantastic. Our Botswana guide was excellent. The wildlife experience was exhilarating - two nights in a row we had elephants come right up to our tent (no more than 5 to 10 feet away) snorting and huffing, just eating away at the leaves. I watched in fascination through the tent opening while my wife cowered under the blankets. It was like a very slow freight train coming right at you. Too bad I didn't dare take a picture of my wife. That would have been the story of the trip.

Ian and Lorna - Thanks for putting together another fantastic trip! It was brilliant! Everything was organized perfectly! A few thoughts…Great suggestion to overnight in Johannesburg after the long flight from the USA. The choice of airport hotel was perfect - very welcoming with efficient staff and an excellent restaurant. In Namibia Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp has great views! We climbed "Big Daddy" and enjoyed drinks watching the sunset. At night this camp provided phenomenal star viewing. We had high expectations going to Skeleton Coast Camp and they were exceeded. The camp was so remote, yet so comfortable and managed by some great people. Spending some time in a Himba village and playing Frisbee on the beach with our guide are memories my family will keep forever. In Botswana there were many great memories. The new camp at Little Vumbura is beautiful. Lots of walkways and decks and very comfortable. The views from the back of the tents over the water are amazing. Even with higher than usual water levels, the game drives were still incredible. It was exciting driving through water that came up to the floor boards in the Land Rovers. My 17 year old son flew into my lap when a hippo jumped in front of our boat on the way back to camp one night. At Selinda the new "tents" are beautiful and the main lodge area was perfect. The wildlife viewing was phenomenal! Lion, cheetah, hyena, buffalo, giraffe and too many elephants to count. We saw hippos grazing on the lawn at dinner and watched elephants come to drink in the afternoon. The food was some of the best we've had in our three visits to Africa.

Where to begin! The Johannesburg Airport Sun Intercontinental Hotel has the best breakfast ever! The staff and managers at Eagle Island Camp were incredibly upbeat and helpful. Our room had the best view of any in any camp and the whole experience was dreamy. For us, it was an unspeakably beautiful start that set the bar very high! Khwai River Lodge provided wonderful wildlife viewing. At Savute Elephant Camp we saw leopard and lion very close and that was extremely satisfying. At Tongabezi the views were stunning and the service was absurdly comprehensive. Oh my lord was it amazing to have a bath drawn for us while we were on our “sunset cruise.” Victoria Falls are stunning. And that said the best view of the falls was provided by our Mack Air pilot flying in to Livingstone. In Cape Town Kensington Place was a surprise. We clearly were looking at outdated photos because we had no idea that this was a “chic retreat” type of place. Very well done, but not our style. This was totally our mistake, not yours, but whoa! We loved the rose petal bath the last night, though! Ultimate Africa staff had infinite patience you were all great! We were skittish about the trip because most of it was a gift to us, which made us perhaps a little more sensitive about costs than we would have cared to be, or your other clients are likely to be. Nonetheless, you all were very patient and only rarely did Jon feel that he was imposing on your goodwill, which was seemingly endless. We’re very grateful for your work and will treasure our time on this trip for the rest of our lives.

Botswana was absolutely everything we hoped it would be! The camps were delightful, the staff hospitable, the guides first-rate, and the wildlife magnificent! Thank you for putting it together so flawlessly. Starting at Jack's our first night on safari was spent sleeping under the stars on the pan - the most mystical experience I have ever had and a perfect way to begin our journey. We loved everything about Jack's -- the camp itself, the relaxed but very attentive staff, the Bushmen walk, the meerkats… Starting there put the whole trip in context, especially after spending a day at Sterkfontein and the Origins Center in Johannesburg. Part of my deep desire to visit Africa was the connection to our common past, and beginning the trip with all these "Out of Africa" reminders was exactly right. We wish we'd had more time in lovely Kwetsani Tree Camp. It was a fabulous property with a very warm staff and great location. Listening to the lechwe crossing the floodplain, watching lions in camp over dessert and coffee, flying through the delta on the motorboat and gliding across it on mekoro - Kwetsani was magical. Dawson, our guide at Chitabe, was incredibly smart and articulate, and taught us a great deal about all aspects of the bush. His lessons were fascinating. We had a wonderful encounter with a leopard feasting on a kill in a jackalberry tree with a hyena circling at very close range below, and a chance meeting with a huge (1,000+) herd of buffalo. The best was saved for last.  We adored Duma Tau Camp! We ended up with a private guide there for all three days although we had only paid for one day. Not sure how that happened (did you have a hand in this?). Our guide, Kane, was amazing. Together with the camp staff and managers, he arranged an unplanned sleepout at the hide for us. That night ranked right up there with the surprise sleepout at Jack's. Although we didn't sleep much, it was amazing to listen to the eles and zebras at the watering hole all night. Unlike the sleepout at Chitabe, we also enjoyed being able to have our dinner at the hide, and watching the sun go down over the watering hole.  The wonderful Duma Tau staff were filled with joy and excitement.  They seemed to have fun bringing dinner out to the hide in cast iron kettles, setting a lovely table for the three of us, providing bottles of champagne and wine, and in every other way taking care of us. The Duma Tau sleepout was a true highlight in a trip full of highlights. I cannot say enough about that wonderful camp.  (And I haven't even mentioned the terrific wildlife experiences there, including how incredibly relaxed the animals seemed at Duma Tau. In ending we had a marvelous, magical safari, and we are grateful for your seasoned advice and meticulous planning.  It is hard to imagine the trip could have exceeded my very high expectations, but it did!

It’s hard top believe our trip is over - after all the work we, and you, put into it! It was worth it! I liked the order in which we visited the camps. Stanley’s Camp was a wonderful start to our safari Very much enjoyed the elephant walk/picnic. At Chief’s Camp our guide Jonathan was very knowledgeable about much more than wildlife. Good camaraderie. Chobe Chilwero felt as if it was more like a luxury hotel (albeit with wart hogs on the lawn) than a safari adventure.  Overall our reservation was handled courteously and efficiently. Ultimate Africa staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely book with you again - and have recommended you to others.
