Thank you for helping us plan the trip of a LIFETIME!  We are absolutely changed as people, our perspectives and boundaries have been expanded. Like everyone says, we fell in love with Africa!   We simply cannot thank you enough for your insight into the countries we visited. We can't even think of a complaint. Everyone we meet was so accommodating and knowledgeable. We were so affected by what we experienced that it was hard to come home to our regular life! It is our goal to get back to Africa as soon as possible! We are trying to convince everyone we know to go Africa, and if they do, we will certainly send them your way. In the meantime is there anywhere where we could post a review that would benefit you?
E. and D. Hetherington, November 2009, Roswell, Georgia, USA

Thank you for recommending that we visit Tanzania and Zanzibar. Lake Manyara offered flamingoes, elephant, and lion. In the Serengeti the luxury camping was fun. Saw lots of cheetah, lion, and beautiful landscapes. Ngorongoro Crater was stunningly pretty. Saw good numbers of animals and even rhino. Your recommendation to end our trip in Zanzibar was perfect. We are so glad we did. In Stonetown we went to the old slave market and chambers – very moving. The rooftop dinner at Hurumzi was unforgettable! The beach at the Palms was perfect with surprisingly warm (almost hot) ocean water!
M. and D. Dickers, New York, New York, USA

I've just recently returned from the most well-prepared, incredible holiday in my life. 6 months ago, I asked my parents if they could go any place in the world for vacation and do anything that they wanted, where would they want to go. Their answer was - an African Safari. So, as I knew it was very short notice for such a trip, I started right away with finding someone who might be able to put this trip together with the expertise that I was looking for. After doing a bit of research I came upon Ultimate Africa. I contacted them and I immediately heard from Ian. He asked some very good questions to get more of an idea of what my idea was in terms of types of lodges, activities and locations in Africa. He then proposed some itineraries. Now, with this being my first time in Africa, and me wanting to give my parents the best experience of their life, I did a lot of comparisons from what Ian offered me. It always came back to Ian being able to answer all of my questions about other camps, other areas of Africa, etc. With his depth of knowledge and his personal experience at the camps coming through in all of his answers, I began to be very comfortable with trusting him to arrange this very important holiday. As Ian made all of our arrangements and gave us all the advice that we needed for packing - we were ready. From the first moment we touched down in Johannesburg, our dream had come true. Ian had so carefully listened to my wants and needs for this trip that the only way it could have been better would have been to extend this holiday much longer. We had unbelievable service everywhere we went. We had the most comfortable camps with the friendliest staffs. We saw the most incredible animals and had some of the best adventures of our lifetime. Ian did such an awesome job arranging everything for us I will share my experience with friends and colleagues and definitely recommend him and his travel expertise to everyone I know. I will also look to Ian for help when returning to Africa, hopefully in 2010. As a child trying to give her parents the best gift possible I couldn't have done it without the help of Ian and Ultimate Africa.
J. Winburn and Family, November 2009, Osage Beach, Missouri, USA

Excellent planning! I liked the variety of camps. I liked how the itinerary flowed. Fabulous experience. Will definitely use Ultimate Africa for future trips. Thanks, you did a great job!
T. McClaskey and Family, November 2009, Camas, Washington, USA

Thank you doesn’t seem enough to say. I have had the most amazing journey in Tanzania. I am sad that it came to an end but know I will be come back again. Sante Sana.
B. Keen, October 2009, Elk Grove, California, USA

Our trip to South Africa was truly luxurious! Cape Town was gorgeous, we ate and drank too much in the winelands (and learned some very interesting history)…the wildlife at Singita was spectacular! This was our second trip to Africa and was equally good. You answered our many questions promptly and with great knowledge…your personal experiences gave us a good idea what to expect – thank you for that.
B. and R. Simmons, October 2009, Miami, Florida, USA

Very professional and helpful. Every detail was planned in advance and executed flawlessly. Wilderness Safaris was a top notch organization. The trip exceeded all expectations (and we have very high expectations!).
V. Brusser and L. Janosy, September / October 2009, Arlington, Virginia, USA

The safari experience was wonderful - truly remarkable! One of our top vacations ever!
G. and A. Whitman, September / October 2009, Los Angeles, California, USA

This was an expensive trip for our family.  We read a lot about the different options and contacted a good number of safari companies. In the end we chose Ian and Lorna at Ultimate Africa. Their prices were in line with other good companies. Their first hand knowledge of the various areas however was exceptional. It seemed like they had been everywhere! In addition they were prompt and helpful. We knew we were in good hands. In the end the end our family agreed it was the most amazing experience we had ever had.
R. Freese and Family, September 2009, Chicago, Illinios, USA

Ian, I am back from my Africa trip and just wanted to say what a magnificent trip you planned for me. As a single person going overseas for the first time, to Africa none the less, I have to admit I felt a little uneasy. All my worries were left behind everything was planned to perfection and nothing, I mean nothing, went wrong. Duba Plains was spectacular! On my second day I viewed 4 lionesses kill a buffalo from 30 feet away. Chitabe was a paradise for leopards that posed for us. Duma Tau was elephants, elephants and more elephants. The accommodations in all three camps were the best, and the staff in all were wonderful and so welcoming. I met many wonderful people from all over the world and made several new friendships. The second part of my trip to South Luangwa in Zambia was breathtaking. To be able to walk amongst Africa’s magnificent creatures on their terms is something I will never forget. The accommodations were great and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It was a true picture of African living. I was able to visit a village and learn about the people, visit their school and learn about their education system. The guides were wonderful and John and Carol Coppinger (the owners of Remote Africa’s camps) are wonderful people and a fountain of information about Africa. I can't say enough about them. Again thank you to you and your staff for making my African Dream come true. Thank You!
L. Kirchhoff, August / September 2009, Sarasota, Florida, USA

J. and B. Begens, September 2009, Jupiter, Florida, USA

This was my fantasy trip and it more than fulfilled my dreams. My husband was nervous about going but loved the whole trip. EVERYTHING went well and smoothly, I can’t believe for that length of a trip how well it all went. I will recommend Ultimate Africa Safaris to everyone!!! I have so many amazing pictures and memories.  Thank you for providing such a wonderful itinerary.
W. and R. Burke, September 2009, Des Moines, Iowa, USA

The Cape Grace - mind blowing!! We felt like we had graduated to lifestyles of the rich and famous. Chitabe Lediba – excellent, great variety and numbers of both predators and prey, including wild dogs. Kwetsani Tree Camp –many great photo opportunities with a very different landscape. Duma Tau Camp – excellent, we saw cheetah, leopard and lots of lions as well as great numbers of elephant and antelope species. Toka Leya – we did very little wildlife viewing although we saw white rhino. The sunset cruise was very relaxing. Sausage Tree Camp – excellent! Once again, a very different and very pleasant landscape. Lots of hippos both in and out of the water, lots of lions and a fair amount of game. Our trip could not possibly have been any better. I would like to thank Ian for arranging a wonderful safari experience. This could not have been accomplished by anyone that did not have an intimate knowledge of all the camps. Every camp had something different to offer, and every camp was extremely well run. I indicated to Ian that I was keenly interested in photography and the advice he gave me could not have been better. This was truly the best trip we have ever taken. Starting the trip off with a stop and tours in Cape Town was a brilliant idea. We will definitely be going back to Africa..
J. Decker and C. Forbes, September 2009, Mill Bay, BC, Canada

I am so glad I met you and had you book my trip.
J. Shuman, September 2009, Boca Raton, Florida, USA

Wanted to say we really enjoyed our big Africa trip. Loved the scenery in Namibia, animals in Botswana and beaches in Mozambique…all in all it was a once in a lifetime treat. Could not have done it without your guidance. Thanks Ian and Lorna!
T. and H. Thomas, September 2009, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Hi Lorna and Ian! I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable and unforgettable trip. We saw many animals at all of the camps. The staff and guides at all of the camps were great and we very much enjoyed our trip. We are beginning to think about going back to other parts of Africa. The trip exceeded all of our expectations. Thanks again for all your help from the beginning until the end.
L. Gipson and B. Ardito, August 2009, Zachary, Louisiana, USA

Ultimate Africa Safaris is aptly named! This was the trip of a lifetime! Our high expectations were exceeded.
R. and B. McMillan, August / September 2009, Gibson Island, Maryland, USA

Unbelievable, superior guides with fantastic knowledge and personalities made this a spectacular trip! Camp staff were friendly and eager to share their lives and experiences. Awesome food. Exciting experiences with lions, hippos, elephants – a very busy activity packed trip. No time to be bored. Our group was very compatible and fun to be with.
D. and C. Kamrar, August / September 2009, Bellevue, Washington, USA

At the Cape Grace the service was wonderful. We were always greeted by name. The view of Cape Town and Table Mountain was perfect. Chitabe was our first safari camp. We saw giraffe, elephants, lions, leopards, hippos and all sorts of antelope. Out tent was incredible and the meals were great. At Little Vumbura we went on wildlife drives, river boat cruises and mekoro rides. Our tent was wonderful and the meals were great. At Duma Tau there were more elephants than any other place we had been. We also saw lions, leopards, hippos, antelope, crocodiles and countless beautiful birds. Our tent and meals were wonderful. At River Club we took a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River and saw crocodiles, monitor lizards, baboons, monkeys and birds galore. The service was outstanding. We really appreciated the details that went into planning this trip. The choice of the Cape Grace Hotel and our guide Christy Gibson with gave us a marvelous start to our trip. The choice of the 3 camps gave us a real variety of animals and landscape and ending the trip at River Club was the cherry on the top.
J. and M. Bradley, August / September 2009, Olympia, Washington, USA

My recent trip Africa was fantastic and you were correct that Botswana was the place to go! I truly enjoyed myself. I saw a great variety of animals and not very many people. Chobe and Linyanti were great for wildlife and we saw plenty of elephant and all night listened to hippos in the water. The Okavango is definitely a different environment completely.  While the wildlife was not as extensive there is was great to see a different terrain. I had an experience with an elephant trying to knock over a tree right outside my tent with the branches rubbing against the top of the tent. The next night in a different camp I had the same thing so those experiences were both interesting tales to tell. Again, thank you for your recommendations!
J. Ball, August 2009, Bellevue, Washington, USA

Tanzania was everything we expected! The Serengeti plains were beautiful. Baobab trees and forests in Tarangire were pretty too and hid many animals – lots of elephant and giraffe. I loved being at the crater – so different from everywhere else…a little crowded but worth it! Wished we had time to visit Zanzibar as you suggested – people we met said it is worthwhile. Thank you for all your help. Great trip.
J. and V. Bingham, August, 2009, Houston, Texas, USA

Excellent in every way!
M. Pedrazzi, July 2009

We had an AMAZING adventure!! It was everything and more than we anticipated.
S. Johnson and Family, July 2009, San Bernadino, California, USA

We had a wonderful trip in Africa and everything went as smooth as could be. We were impressed with the accommodation, the food, and especially the people. We have been boasting to all our friends about the trip, the accommodations, the reception and the timing of it all. Not a flaw in the trip at all.
P. Morin and B. Norris, July 2009, Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada

Tubu Tree was a fantastic experience from the hosts, to the guides, to the animal viewing! Warm friendly feeling from the entire staff. Savuti is an outstanding camp with amazing guides. A great relaxed welcoming environment. Every detail was handled with no unexpected issues. The trip exceeded all our expectations and we would recommend the trip to anyone. We have some lifetime memories thanks to Ultimate Africa Safaris!
M. Chesser and J. Mendenhall, July 2009, Frisco, Texas, USA

Best trip ever! Almost beyond description. Everything was first class or even better. Ultimate Africa Safaris put together a tremendous itinerary.
S. and S. Mendenhall and Family, July 2009, Salem, South Carolina, USA

Tanzania was gorgeous! We loved all 3 safari places you suggested. The rooms at Tarangire Treetops were huge with superb views. Wildlife here was varied with lovely scenery…the baobabs are amazing. At Migration Camp in the Serengeti we saw tons of animals in “Lion King” like surrounds…a few tsetse flies but we enjoyed. Ending at Ngorongoro Crater was a treat and Crater Lodge is to die for! Great suggestions. Here’s to Ultimate Africa! Perfect…
A. and H. Greene, July 2009, Hartford, Connecticut, USA

At Mombo the wildlife was phenomenal! Guide Doctor Malinga was excellent. Our trip was very well coordinated. We had no hiccups. It was wonderful being looked after. This was the most awesome vacation of my life. Botswana was even more phenomenal that I thought it would be.
C. Jarrett JR and D. Bishop, May / June 2009, Bellevue, Washington, USA

Dylan and I just returned from our honeymoon early this morning (6 AM!). Just wanted to write a quick note to let you know how incredible the trip was!!  We both agree that it was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives!!!  Thanks so much for all of your help with setting up this dream itinerary. I was looking back at e-mails from a year ago when we started planning and am just so happy you all convinced us that Botswana was the way to go.  It was just magical!!!  We loved it so much that we talked about how we might be able to save up to go again in the next couple of years.
S. Parnes and D. Green, May / June 2009, Washington DC, USA

Our trip to Botswana and Zambia was the best trip my husband and I ever took. Ultimate Africa did a superb job setting up the trip. The camps were delightful and the guides were outstanding.  The animal viewing was unbelievable. Every detail of the trip was taken care of by Ultimate Africa and superbly implemented. Wilderness Safari is a very impressive company that cares deeply for the people of Africa and protection of the eco-system. My husband is a professional photographer and was more than satisfied with the photo opportunities presented to him. We planned our trip 18 months in advance and had very high expectations. Our expectations were surpassed. You are in excellent hands with Ultimate Africa.
N.and J. Norem, May 2009. Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

Simply the best, most amazing experience of our lives! Botswana is a very beautiful country, the people are very friendly and the game viewing is something out of a nature documentary. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
E. and T. Newhouse, April 2009, Alexandria, Virginia, USA

Ultimate Africa were educational, flexible and creative. The venues you selected and the people on the ground with whom we interacted with were exceptional. This was truly a memorable experience.
R. and K. McKeithen, April / May 2009, San Francisco California, USA

The Victoria and Alfred is a great hotel with wonderful rooms looking out over the harbor and Table Mountain. Little Vumbura is a great camp with fabulous people. Loved being on the water. Saw lots of animals. At Savuti, also a great camp with fabulous people, we saw a kill which was exciting.  At Chitabe Lediba the guide was fabulous. Viewing Victoria Falls was spectacular. The River Club was a great place to relax after an exhilarating trip. Lorna was very helpful and accommodating. Our overall experience was a trip of a lifetime.
W. and M. Horn, April 2009, New London, New Hampshire, USA

The Victoria and Alfred Hotel at the Waterfront in Cape Town was a great location. The breakfasts were very nice. Our guide Gary was very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. The wildlife viewing at Duma Tau was phenomenal. It is a true gem. Our guide was terrific. Overall incredible. Little Vumbura offered excellent wildlife viewing, wonderful staff and service. At Chitabe the viewing was terrific as was our guide. Fabulous new accommodations. You don’t go to Toka Leya at Victoria Falls for wildlife viewing camp but we were lucky to see 4 white rhinos! The Zambezi river cruise was great. Lorna was very easy to deal with and extremely helpful. The camps chosen were a really good mix. You are extremely knowledgeable. Everything went like clockwork. Met on time, transfers handled perfectly, and all activities done to perfection. I would change nothing! Truly a fine organization. We have never encountered such a consistent group of fine young men and women. All the camps were beautiful but Duma Tau is truly special. We loved it and felt our 3 days there, if we had to leave Africa, we had experienced something quite extraordinary.
D. and S. Nickless, April 2009, Pittsford, Vermont, USA

After SAA lost our luggage between Johannesburg you came through with flying colors to locate it and forward it to our first stop – Skeleton Coast Camp. There are not enough words to describe the tranquility and beauty of the Skeleton Coast – the lichen fields, the sand dunes, just magnificent! Our guide Kallie – one of a kind. We cannot say enough about the warm and friendly staff in Ongava Tented Camp and Desert Rhino Camp – it felt like home. Our guide at Kulala woke us at 4:30 AM to see the sunrise at Namib Naukluft Park. It was all worth it - those sand dunes look breathtakingly beautiful in the morning sun.  This was surely a trip to remember for us and thanks to Ian and Lorna’s planning everything went like clockwork! Thank you.
R. and K. Mackert, April 2009, Piedmont, California, USA

The staff at Ultimate Africa Safaris were helpful, knowledgeable, detail oriented and got it right when selecting the camps for us.
R. Dawson and G. Richards, March 2009, San Francisco, California, USA

Lorna and Ian - when it comes to Africa you know your stuff! You listened to our needs, offered thoughtful advice, and in the end our high expectations were exceeded (and this is pretty hard to do)! You offer a great service and your efforts on our behalf were appreciated!
G. and G. Morton, February, 2009, Los Angeles, California, USA

We loved the accommodations at Lake Manyara and the game drives were great. Eating outdoors provided a great atmosphere. Our guide James at Serengeti Under Canvas was fun to be with and showed us all the animals up close. Our waiter at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge was great. He enjoyed teaching us Swahili. Our daughter and son loved him!  The staff throughout were friendly and knowledgeable, especially at Serengeti Under Canvas. We enjoyed the trip. We got picked up and dropped off no problem, everything on time. The advice we got from Ultimate Africa Safaris on what to take and what to do was very helpful.
